Announcing DISCUS 4.0 - Key Enhancements

  • DISCUS Export to AS9102 Form 1
  • Under the File menu, click the Parts List function. Then enter components parts data in the new Parts List window for assemblies. Upon export to Excel, this data displays on Form 1.
  • Excel (CSV) upload to Parts List
  • In an excel spreadsheet, enter the Part Name, Number and other data that is required on Form 1. Save it as a CSV file and upload it to the Parts list under the File menu. When you export, this information populates Form 1.
  • DISCUS Export to AS9102 Form 2
  • Under the File menu, click the Material and Process item. Then enter data for Form 2. When you export, this data completes Form 2 of the Excel report. Plus, the user is prompted to complete required fields for AS9102 compliance.
  • Sub-balloon with Alpha/Numeric
  • In the Group functionality, create alpha/numeric sub-balloons and characteristic groups, especially useful when ballooning drawing notes, such as 1.A, 1.B etc. Plus you can still sub-balloon using 1.1, 1.2 etc.
  • Denote Key Characteristics.
  • In the Balloon Properties, identify the alphabetic notation for a key characteristic. When denoting a key characteristic, that item on the drawing can be represented as 3K or K4, as needed.
  • Square added to Balloon Shapes
  • In the Balloon Properties, select the square for an additional shape.
  • Exclude specific grid letter improvement
  • In the Grid Properties window, you can choose to exclude certain letters not shown on the drawing, such as G and I (G,I). When you apply the grid, the associated letters do not display on the drawing. Separate values with a comma for multiple exclusions.
  • Swap out the ballooned drawing
  • Replace the current drawing with the final version or new revision. If you need to replace a drawing (perhaps one of better quality) and retain all the markups from the original, this function allows you to do so in two clicks. When you remove a characteristic, however, unlike New Revision, the characteristic numbers are not permanently deleted, but are renumbered.
  • BoC dimension display
  • DISCUS now represents dimensions as +/-, or for range, as min - max or min / max in the BoC and in the excel output.
  • Export multiple ballooned drawings into 1 PDF file
  • You can now export all of the drawings as one PDF with separate pages.
  • Enhanced OCR RADAR for MIN/MAX
  • DISCUS OCR now recognizes MIN and MAX values at noted on a drawing, such as 1.24 MIN OR 1.35 MAX, representing these as appropriate single values.
  • OCR dpi set to 600 as default
  • 600 dpi has proven to be the best setting for OCR, and is now the default.
  • New Hot keys
  • Enter for OK. When entering data, instead of clicking OK, you can press Enter to accept the data. On the Characteristics Properties box, press the ALT Key to display the Hot Keys. Keep that key depressed and press N for Next, P for Previous and C for Close, etc. Keep your fingers on the keyboard and off that mouse.
  • Drop-down lists for Pass/Fail
  • In the Results module, never again type the go/no go data in the results for attribute (note) data. Once you enter the Pass/Fail values, you can click your selection from a drop-down list.
  • Edit the equipment list
  • When entering the equipment lists in the Results module, easily edit any entry. Simply select the item to edit and then click Edit.
  • Excel export of DISCUS Inspection Planner data
  • In addition to exporting inspection/process plans to a PDF, harness the powerful Excel functionality by exporting these plans to Excel. Choose the export option that best fits your needs.
  • DISCUS 3D
  • Use DISCUS 3D to produce First Article Inspection Reports from 3D models. Contact sales@discussoftware.com to request a DVD.
