Net-Inspect has recently notified DISCUS of an imminent change to its Public API authentication requirements, with MD5 support scheduled to be discontinued on August 28, 2026 September 10,2026.
As part of its ongoing security and compliance initiatives, Net-Inspect is transitioning the request body digest used for API authentication from MD5 to SHA-256.
What this means for DISCUS users
Our latest release, DISCUS Desktop 2026.1.0, supports the new SHA-256 authentication requirement. If you are already running DISCUS Desktop 2026.1.0, no action is required.
If you are unsure which version of DISCUS you are currently running, navigate to Help > About DISCUS within the application to view your installed version.Customers using an earlier version of DISCUS will need to upgrade to DISCUS Desktop 2026.1.0 or later to continue exporting FAIRs directly to Net-Inspect after August 28.Once Net-Inspect removes MD5 support, API requests from affected older versions of DISCUS will be rejected, and the Export FAIR to Net-Inspect functionality will no longer work.
What you should do
If you use the DISCUS integration with Net-Inspect and are running a version prior to DISCUS Desktop 2026.1.0, we recommend upgrading before August 28, 2026 September 10, 2026 to avoid disruption to your Net-Inspect export workflow.
Customers with an active Support and Maintenance Agreement can upgrade to the latest eligible version of DISCUS.
