DISCUS Software Company Releases Web-Based Interface to Enhance FAI and Quality ManagementCOLUMBUS, Ohio – October 5, 2011 – DISCUS Software Company, a leader in software tools for manufacturing engineering and quality planning, announces immediate availability of DISCUS Connect, a web-based companion to their flagship desktop tool.

DISCUS Connect enables DISCUS ballooning software tools to play a larger role in companies working to improve collaboration in the supply chain. DISCUS Connect is already in use at a major aerospace prime contractor for both planning quality at multiple plants, and managing the Technical Data Package (TDP) and FAIs in their supply chain.

DISCUS Connect provides a platform for managing the TDP and supplier performance. It can be deployed behind a firewall or by accessing a cloud-based version. DISCUS Connect can store the intelligent TDP—including part requirements and results at a characteristic level of detail—in a centralized server to provide better security, easier access, and advanced reporting.

The tool features a web-based interface to allow sharing of the TDP among departments and suppliers. A dashboard tracks the status of manufacturing and quality planning in real-time with key performance metrics to streamline workflow and ensure consistency.

DISCUS Connect also enables integration with ERP and PDM systems. DISCUS is the only suite of tools to provide complete characteristic control capabilities, from characteristic identification and ballooning to results approval and reporting.

DISCUS Connect is the planned platform for the management of the Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP).
