With DISCUS Planner, you’re able to apply an existing technical data package created in DISCUS Basic in order to manage the characteristics on an operational level. From there you can generate a complete set of manufacturing planning documentation.

So now, characteristics can not only belong to the final drawing, but can exist as in-process characteristics at the operations where they are created, applied, or even changed.

The primary output from DISCUS Planner is a structured and fully completed set of manufacturing planning documentation. This includes the summary routing, and for each operation, the work instructions, inspection sheets, and process illustrations.

With Planner, we can assign final drawing characteristics to the Operations or the characteristics. You can also open in-process drawings and illustrations at the operation level.

The side-by-side view allows you to compare two operations next to one another. For example, you can compare the final drawing to an in-process drawing and assign characteristics from one operation to the next by dragging and dropping the balloon. Since the details of a characteristic may change from one operation to another, such as the dimension or the tolerance, it may be necessary to edit this information. This can be done from the Bill of Characteristics Table.

Rather than be assigned from the final operation, characteristics can be uniquely identified at an in-process operation. Information displayed from the Operations Analysis window indicates characteristics, where used, and delta values by operation. This helps reduce errors by ensuring that all characteristics are addressed during the specific manufacturing steps. Data from this analysis can be exported to Excel.

Finally, the entire process and manufacturing planning documentation can be exported. This includes a summary routing and for each operation, the work instructions, inspection sheets, and process illustrations.
